Hello there! We are Árni and Íris and we would love to show you the mountains and glaciers of Öræfi. We live in Svínafell, and Öræfajökull, Iceland's highest mountain and the largest volcano Northern Europe, is our back yard.

All of our tours are private so they can be tailored to suit your needs. We do everything from short glacier hikes to technical mountaineering and the surroundings in Öræfi offer almost everything you could imagine. To get us to where our adventures stars we've got a well equipped Land Cruiser. If you are staying in the Öræfi area we are happy to pick you up at your place, if not then our meeting point is our home in Svínafell.

In our time off during the winter we like to go ice climbing when the waterfalls freeze or go ski touring when we have good snow conditions. In the summer we rock climb at the local rock climbing areas, hike in the mountains and ride our horses in the wild Icelandic nature.

We are both certified glacier and mountain guides from the association of Icelandic mountain guides (AIMG). We are part of the instructor team for AIMG and FAS mountaineering program and the search and rescue in Iceland (SAR). We are both members of the local rescue team and we are wilderness first responders (WFR). Árni has been guiding since 2010 and Íris since 2014. 

Öræfi is the area in Iceland that has the most to offer in glacier exploration, moutaineering and rock climbing. So if you are looking for an adventure, this is the place to be.

Qualifications

  • We are the owners and the guides of the company so nothing ever has to be "checked with the office" and everything stays nice and simple.

  • We are locals of Öræfi, therefore we know the best areas to explore each time.

  • We love small groups where everyone knows each other, therefore we keep all of our tours private and personal.

  • We climb and do mountaineering in our free time, to have fun and keep our skills sharp.
